As many of you are aware, on Sunday afternoon, the Governor put in place a number of restrictions in an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Most notably were the 3-week closure of all schools in the state and the elimination of gatherings with more than 25 people until April 6th. The Governor stressed the importance of residents staying home as much as possible and maintaining social distancing guidelines when in public. Moreover, today’s announcement by President Trump, increasing the limitations on public gatherings to no more than 10 people further demonstrates the seriousness of the situation. Unfortunately, these restrictions have forced the Board to cancel a number of scheduled events during this time period.
Specifically, those cancellations include:
Winter Workouts (March 21, March 28, and April 4)
Hitting Clinic #1 (March 19)
Hitting Clinic #2 (March 26 and April 2)
At this time, there is no indication that the Spring Season will be cancelled. We are still accepting registrations (deadline is March 20th) and plan to order the necessary supplies in anticipation of play starting on April 26th. The Board remains in contact with the Old Silver Lake League and will update you all if a delay or cancellation is implemented.
Hopefully, the COVID-19 situation improves during this 3-week period and we can all get back to normal activities. However, in the event that it doesn’t, it is important to note that Carver Girls Softball will be following all guidance released from the Governor’s office and the Carver Public School system in regards to any future restrictions or cancellations. The safety and welfare of the girls who play in this league and the families who help make it all happen is our top priority.
Thank you all for your patience during this unprecedented situation. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Board with any questions or concerns at firstname.lastname@example.org and continue to follow our Facebook page and league website for ongoing updates.
